Welcome to the Hampshire Voluntary Care Groups website.

This site is provided to give basic information about the many Voluntary Care Groups and Good Neighbour Schemes within Hampshire. Currently there are over 100 such groups across the county with an estimated 4,000 volunteers involved. Each group is independent, recruits volunteers from within their local community and establishes its own priorities and activities.
They offer an invaluable and much appreciated service and although they vary greatly in size, all are keenly involved in meeting the needs of people in their local community.

The main purposes of the Advisory Service are:
(a) Support of existing Care Groups and the development of new Groups.
(b) Intensive support of newly formed Groups and the development of appropriate training programmes.
(c) Identification and response to field work issues and liaison with other providing agencies.

This Advisory Service is sponsored by the Church of England Dioceses of Winchester, Portsmouth and Guildford, and supported by Hampshire Social Services Department, and the Health Commissions of North and Mid-Hants, Portsmouth and South East and Southampton and South West.
